Professor Kempny trained in cardiology and internal medicine at the University Hospital of Muenster, Germany, and at the Royal Brompton Hospital.
He received his PhD in Cardiology at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London.
Professor Kempny is fully trained in general adult cardiology. Before joining Royal Brompton Hospital as a consultant, he was consultant cardiologist at the Barts Heart Centre between 2015-16. In 2016-2017 he was visiting consultant cardiologist at the John Radcliffe Hospital, the main teaching hospital for Oxford University. He leads the adult congenital heart disease and pulmonary hypertension intervention programme at Royal Brompton Hospital.
